The country where coffee beans are grown has a profound effect on flavour. Understanding the major coffee-producing regions is the first step to finding your perfect cup.
Ethiopia — the birthplace of coffee
Ethiopian coffees are often floral and fruit-forward: blueberry, jasmine, citrus. The most famous varieties come from Yirgacheffe and Sidama. These coffees are best enjoyed as filter or pour-over to preserve their delicate aromatics.
Colombia — the crowd-pleaser
Colombian coffees tend to be smooth, balanced and mildly sweet — red apple, caramel, milk chocolate. The mountainous growing conditions produce consistent beans that make an excellent everyday espresso or flat white base.
Brazil — full body and low acidity
Brazil is the world's largest coffee producer. Brazilian beans are typically nutty, chocolatey and low in acidity, which makes them ideal for espresso blends. They add body and sweetness while tempering sharper single-origin flavours.
"Once you taste the difference, you can't un-taste it. Origin matters."
At Coffee & Cream, we rotate our single-origin offerings every few weeks. Ask us what's on the bar today — we'd love to talk you through it.
